'The Killing' recap
I'll say this for "Beau Soleil," the latest episode of "The Killing": That final sequence was terrifically tense. Linden's came by Darren Richmond's place (y'know, simply to chat), when she fields a phone call from the guy back at the station. He's sending an email to Orpheus, the mysterious guy who creeped out among the girls who worked at the escort service in the episode's title. She asks him to send it again… after which she hears the noise of a computer somewhere in the Richmond house receiving a contact. Again. Exactly the same sound. Again. Exactly the same sound. It's not a coincidence. The emails are now being received from the house!
Meanwhile, Holder's off to meet with the escort who had the info about who Orpheus was, so he can comply with the fact that Orpheus asked her what she thought it would be like to drown. And as he stands close to the pay phone she called him from, he looks over the way and sees a wall full of Richmond posters. At the same time,PARAJUMPERS shop online, Linden's tracked down the pc finding the emails and watches as more and more of them with that incriminating subject line ("I Understand what You probably did!") pop in to the inbox. And then Richmond steps in to the room and asks her what she's doing. End of episode.
These last few episodes are earning a pretty good case that "The Killing" may have made a fun miniseries. Character development isn't the show's strong suit, however it does okay by the plot when it really wants to, which last sequence showed that the series can do tension pretty well too. It's not that I think Linden's going to have trouble escaping Richmond's clutches as well as that I think Richmond's the killer. (I rather think we're being established to find out that Gwen or Jamie may be the theif.) But that sequence felt suspenseful and dangerous in ways the show just hasn't in a very long time.
A part of this is because the center portion of this season was such a mess. But if you could strip that middle section out and change it with only part one and last area of the year (because, really, the Bennet stuff ended up being largely useless), there'd be something which could be tightened up into a really satisfying six-hour miniseries.
Now, if "The Killing" is really a show where two or three things happen each hour and something of these is really a cliffhanger, "Beau Soleil" was the episode in which a whole couple of stuff happened, merrell outlet, finally. Among the weird reasons for the show is that Linden and Holder often are not doing really basic items to investigate Rosie's death, like, giuseppe zanotti sale, say, looking into how a teen girl might have such expensive shoes. (A TV critic friend pegged Rosie's shoes as being a major plot point in the season's endgame as soon as they first popped up; I believe I owe her $20.) Once Linden and Holder access it the trail of Beau Soleil, it feels as though the storyline lurches back to life again. I do not really worry about Linden's personal problems, however i do enjoy watching both of these try to crack the situation together. And "Beau Soleil" had probably the most case-solving action yet.
Granted, in the midst of all of this, jordans shoes for sale, there have been scenes featuring the Larsen family and the Richmond campaign. (Is the most roller-coaster-y mayoral election ever? It sure seems like the polls are all over the place, despite the series taking place over under fourteen days.) The stuff with the Larsens, whilst not nearly as compelling as the case,PARAJUMPERS shop, wasn't bad, and I liked the scene where Stan finally snapped and also got angry together with his wife (while sitting behind the glass from the jail visiting room). The mayoral election stuff is most likely an overall total loss at this time, woolrich sweater, even if Richmond was the killer. But at least we're starting to get a better sense of him like a character.
I type of feel the same way about the whole Beau Soleil back story, roger vivier boots, at least insofar as it provides for us info on Aunt Terry and Rosie. For the first time, discount 2013 Woolrich Woolrich Jackets Woolrich® The Original Outdoor, Rosie is beginning to feel like an individual who died and not just a random symbol of the tragic deaths of teenagers everywhere. She was a girl who liked the finer things (like poetry) but also got obsessed with a job being an escort in a service her aunt also worked at. It's a bit seedy (and I don't believe anyone was necessarily surprised at this revelation),Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, but it really does give us a better sense of the pressures to be within this family,PJS Jackets sale, something the show required to perform a long time ago. In order to care about who killed Rosie, it's important that people really care that she's dead, cheap indoor soccer shoes, and also the show has been doing a poor job of making her anything other than a normal dead girl,Woolrich Jackets, for the most part.
In order we head into the final episode of the show's first season, it sure seems like Linden and Holder have got their guy, which is exactly why I'm confident it will turn out to be that,Giuseppe Zanotti Sneakers, yeah, Richmond had a relationship with Rosie, but he sure didn't kill her! (This can be a show that operates on coincidences, in the end.) The same, though, roger vivier sandals, "Beau Soleil" would be a mostly fun, often tense episode of "The Killing," one that made me think there's still a great show buried underneath all of the other stuff that's gotten tossed on top of it. Here's hoping the ending's satisfying enough to wash the bad taste of the season's middle section from the mouth.
