15th patrol aircraft delivered to USCG
HERNDON, Va., June 6 () -- EADS North America has delivered a 15th maritime patrol aircraft to the U.S. Coast Guard on time and on budget.The aircraft, an HC-144A Ocean Sentry, is based on Airbus Military of Spain's CN235 tactical airlifter.Both EADS North America and Airbus Military are subsidiaries of EADS, the European aerospace and defense conglomerate."In today's tight budget environment, the U.S. Coast Guard needs programs that deliver what's been promised," said Sean O'Keefe, EADS North America chairman and chief executive officer."EADS North America and Airbus Military are proud to be working with the USCG [U.S. Coast Guard] to field this capability consistently on schedule and on cost, and will continue to support this mission."The Coast Guard has three more HC-144A aircraft on order. They are scheduled for delivery this year and next year.EADS said the Coast Guard plans for a fleet of 36 Ocean Sentries, the first of which entered service in 2008.The JC-144A is a medium-range, twin-engine aircraft with a maximum speed of more than 270 mph. Its range is 1,801 miles and its endurance is 8.7 hours.The Coast Guard uses the aircraft for maritime patrol missions, interdiction of drugs and illegal immigrants,[url=http://www.fitflopssalee.com/]fitflops sale[/url], disaster response, and search and rescue.
