Aksel Lund Svindal clinches season super-G title with win in Norway
KVITJELL, Norway, March 3 () -- Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway won the men's World Cup super-G race on his home snow Sunday and clinched the season championship in the event.Svindal crossed the finish line in Kvitjell, Norway, Sunday in 1 minute, 29,79 seconds, nearly a full second ahead of Georg Streitberger of Austria.Werner Heel of Italy placed third. Ted Ligety was the top U.S. finisher with an 18th-place time of 1:31.68.Svindal earned his 50th career World Cup top-three finish, also clinched the season crown in the super-G. The final super-G of the season takes place next week at the World Cup Finals.Svindal has won all four super-G races held so far this season.
