What's In My Bag Photographer
When I first began taking photos on a professional level, a pro photographer and mentor gave me a simple but monumental piece of advice. It was so key to my success that I hesitate to share it publicly. He said to me in a lower voice "Listen up Matt, I am going to tell you something you need to know about photography." I was all ears and now getting excited as I said, "Yeah?" Gary said to me, "The best photographers are the ones that have a camera with them at all times."
Following his sound advice, I now carry around (everywhere I go) a 21 pound bag with my favorite gear, or my point and shoot when SLR's are forbidden. Additionally, I always have my 2 cell phones with photo and video. Has it paid off? Absolutely! I have captured things I had never seen before, including a moose, a bald eagle, interesting urban scenes and so much more. When I get a call for a last minute job, I am always prepared; I can just grab my bag and go!
The types of photography I spend most of my time on include: sports, events, nature wildlife, and family photos. I am not a studio photographer, therefore I do not use a heavy duty lighting rig which would require me to carry a second bag!
A good, quality bag will help to protect your investments. There are thousands to choose from, but it is most important to find a bag that fits your gear and won't be overstuffed to the point of breaking (yes I have been there).
Equipment is heavy, so get a bag that can handle it. There are many high quality brands out there. I have three bags; my 2 primary bags are Tamrac and my third is a Tenba. The Tenba I use only for big trips, as it is a very large bag; so big that it's hard to handle in a crowd. I will focus my attention on my two Tamracs for this post.
One is a backpack and the other is a sling bag. I love both, but the sling bag causes me some shoulder pain after a while so I often switch back and forth between the two. I personally find single strap overtheshoulder bags to be cumbersome, michael kors outlet store, loose and rather ineffective. With that said, it is all about personal preference and taste.
Disclaimer: I am a Canon guy, however when people ask me for my recommendations, I will give the answer Canon or Nikon. If you're looking for my help learning the machine, choose Canon.
I carry 2 bodies that offer varying features, as well as a point and shoot.
1,jimmy choo sale. The 5D Mark II LOVE IT! This is a full frame camera that offers a true to spec focal length. 21MP
2. The 7D EOS LOVE IT! This is a cropped frame camera that offers a magnified focal length, christian louboutin outlet. 18MP
This gives me a huge range of focal lengths and the full frame is amazing in low light situations,Jimmy Choo outlet.
The 7D and the 5D Mark II share batteries, as well as some other accessories, minimizing some of the gear I need to lug around.
I also have a battery grip on both bodies, beats for sale. This is a tool I thought I'd never use and now find that I won't shoot without them. They seamlessly let you shoot vertically with all the necessary buttons on the grip. They almost never come off the bodies, gucci shoes for men.
I carry 2 lenses all the time to give me the greatest range for the type of photography I do. If I did more studio work I would probably be more apt to use fixed lenses, michael kors outlet online.
I carry a canon 2470mm L series 2.8 and the most versatile lens in the line (in my opinion) is the 70200 L series II 2.8 IS. On the cropped frame I get a little more distance out of the lenses. Later I will discuss my extenders.
New Lens: Canon 85mm 1.2 Sharp as can be a very neat lens. This lens will allow me to expand my portrait work.
Memory is very important and I say more is better. When shooting with high MP cameras, louboutin outlet, your memory goes quickly. I carry 74 Gigs of Compact Flash memory with me at all times. Do i ever use it? Only when I shoot video, which is on rare occasions but it is light and portable so I toss it in! I also carry a 550 gig portable Lacie drive in case I need to back up or if I have to unload on the road with my laptop. I will only list my Primary cards here for you. It is key to get high performance cards, as this will allow you to keep up with reading the data when shooting multiple frames per second. I also toss a few 8 gig jump or thumb drives in my bag (because you never know).
