ALVIN LEE: British guitarist Alvin Lee, co-founder of the rock band Ten Years After, died unexpectedly of post-surgery complications Wednesday, his family said. He was 68. The family said in a post on Lee's website he had undergone routine surgery but did not say what the operation was for,[url=http://www.hermesoutletsales.com/]hermes outlet[/url], the BBC reported."We have lost a wonderful and much loved father and companion, the world has lost a truly great and gifted musician," his wife and daughters said in a statement. The network noted Lee, born in Nottingham, England, had earned acclaim for his guitar solos at the seminal Woodstock rock festival in New York state in 1969.Ten Years After recorded eight albums that reached the Top 40 in the United Kingdom. The band's biggest hit, "I'd Love To Change the World," came in 1971.The BBC said Lee released his 14th record, "Still on the Road to Freedom," last August.He was to have played a concert at Olympia Hall in Paris Thursday with blues guitarist Johnny Winter.HOWARD STERN: NBC is talking with Howard Stern about taking over "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" if Fallon takes over "The Tonight Show," the New York Post reported.Citing sources close to Stern, the newspaper said the shock jock is "being groomed" to replace Fallon, who is reported to be in line to replace Jay Leno on "Tonight" when Leno's contract expires in 2014.Stern has his own satellite radio show and is a judge on "America's Got Talent."His agent, Don Buchwald, declined to comment in the report, as did NBC's late night programming chief Doug Vaughan, the Post said Wednesday.CARRIE FISHER: Actress Carrie Fisher has confirmed to Florida's Palm Beach Illustrated she will appear in the upcoming seventh "Star Wars" picture.Fisher, 56, played the iconic role of Princess Leia in three "Star Wars" movies in the 1970s and '80s.Asked by the magazine if she could "confirm whether you'll reprise the role of Princess Leia" in the seventh installment, Fisher said only, "Yes." Pressed to describe what she thinks Leia is like now, Fisher replied with a laugh: "Elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home.
