UPS plane crash in Dubai kills two crew members. The 747-400 aircraft was part of United Parcel Service's cargo fleet and crashed at approximately 8pm on Friday near the Dubai airport within the United Arab Emirates. I'm an airline pilot and I live in the Silicon Oasis Villas,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], about 1 mile from the crash site. The airplane flew over my villa at about 1000 feet. One thing I will tell you is that the noise in the engines was incredible. It sounded as though it was in my living room. When I acquired towards the door the airplane was already down. I actually do think they had time to jettison fuel because I had been directly in the flight path,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], among my cars was parked outside and contains no jet fuel onto it today.
In this area,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there are 1400 houses and several apartment buildings up ato 12-15 floors. The pilots seemed to fly directly over the houses for the open desert,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], via a gap within the apartments and attemped to place the plane down within the desert.
Unfortunately in this region the desert isn't flat but very hilly. Also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the crash site is on an old army base which was accustomed to train tank drivers in hilly conditions.
