Mercedes CLS breaks cover,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
These are the pictures Mercedes didn't want us to see! Months in front of its official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in October,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the all-new CLS has been snared by our team of spy photographers completely undisguised throughout an official shoot in Germany.
This is not the very first time that the four-door coupé has been caught unaware on the press shoot. Until now, though,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it has always been obscured by a cover,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a close building or a Merc employee.
In profile, you can see the vehicle retains the swooping roofline of the pioneering original,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but with the addition of chrome about the rubbing strips,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], window trim and bootlid, as well as glitzy LED running lights, the newcomer's design is less understated and more in-your-face.
The same goes for that larger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], more upright grille,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with its bold horizontal bars. This is made to complement using the recently revealed CL, and sets the template for new Mercs. Additionally, it provides the car a far more imposing presence on the highway.
To produce a sculpted look,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a strong crease runs in the angular headlights all the way towards the back of the CLS, where it meets the muscular
rear wheelarch - a cue borrowed in the E-Class Coupé.
Under the bonnet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a set of petrol engines - also available within the CL - will take pride of place alongside the six-cylinder 350 CDI diesel. The new twin-turbo 4.7-litre V8 (dubbed 4.6 by Mercedes, despite a capacity nearer to 4.7) produces 429bhp and 700Nm of torque - that's
