Many of the clothes are transitional. May said women want sportswear that's easy to wear in the grocery store to the gym. Most sportswear is worn for casual purposes, however it makes women feel affiliated with an activity, he explained. In tennis, the garments are usually short and somewhat tight. But Waco women, Bruington said, want a little more room in their clothes than those seen on professional players.

They're not considered proper tennis clothes when the shorts or skirts do not have pockets, Johnson said.
"The pocket can be used to hold the additional ball when serving," he explained. "People who're serious about tennis will often buy a wardrobe. When they go purchase a pair of wind shorts from a regular store, the shorts are most likely not likely to have pockets."
Bruington said younger girls want variations of the tighter, shorter clothes seen on professional athletes. Older women want looser clothes and typically such as the shorts. She's one customer who keeps insisting on longer shorts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but tennis apparel companies don't make shorts by having an inseam longer than 3 inches.

But golf professionals said women like Sorenstam, who plays within the PGA tournament in Fort Worth beginning Thursday, are helping to change the face of golf for women.
