'Pink slime' inside your burger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Sorry to hear that. My mom was part of the study from UCSD for Fosamax. She was part of the control group. At 85, she's just developed osteoporosis in the last year, and it's not real severe, however they have her using calcium chews and D. She walks like a mad woman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and always has. She was area of the original Walkabout International when it started. It served her well, I think,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as she still walks at least 2 miles each day. I do not expect to have inherited her good health, or basically did, I squandered it on my small eating disorder. Unfortunately, I have spent more of my lifetime starving myself than taking care of myself. I'm pretty sure I have done some irreparable injury to myself.
However i have to say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I have two dear female relatives who are doing a lot worse than me today and so i always count my blessings. One entered hospice care today (met. breast cancer) and also the other went right into a nursing care type facility today because she has nobody to look after her due to a broken ankle having a plate inside it; head on car crash. (she lives in Fl, her kids in MN) Isn't it ironic that these two ladies are first cousins and was raised together during IL? The first kind is my hubby's first cousin, and the latter, his oldest sister.
It's true that we can always find someone worse off than ourselves. That is really ironic they both entered medical type facilities on the day that! Could they be real close in age? I have a dear friend who has diabetes, and has spent the greater part of the past 3 years now in the hospital, and it all started with one tiny blister from the set of new shoes! First she got the blister after just wearing these shoes for under 2 hours. That progressed into an enormous infection and she lost her toes, then her foot towards the middle, then as much as the ankle, then the calf, and lastly as much as just above the knee. All during that time, she had pneumonia twice and almost died, and then developed some massive infection that almost cost her her lifetime. This past year, attempting to use the restroom, she fell and broke her only leg,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which eventually led to a blood clots in her own lungs and a small stroke. Honestly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'm not sure how she kept her spirits up everything while,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nor how their marriage survived because they have a number of adopted kids with severe behaviors as well. I try to be mindful of her every time I start to have the least bit sorry for myself.

First she got the blister after just wearing the shoes for under A couple of hours. That developed into an enormous infection and she or he lost her toes, then her foot to the middle, then as much as the ankle, then your calf, and finally up to just above the knee. All in that time, she had pneumonia twice and almost died, and then developed some massive infection that almost cost her her lifetime. Last year, attempting to make use of the restroom, she fell and broke her only leg,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which eventually led to a thrombus in her own lungs and a small stroke. Honestly, I'm not sure how she kept her spirits up all that while, nor how their marriage survived as they have quite a few adopted kids with severe behaviors too. Personally, I'd take that as a "yes they do" since the companies which avoid using pink slime shout it in the roof tops to get the good publicity so considering the fact that they're attempting to avoid the question. Well, their ground beef is off my list. It's like I'll be buying ground beef exclusively from Costco unless I'm able to identify another local grocer too. Whole-foods is simply too expensive or I'd consider buying from their store.
I can see your point but there is a positive change in that the pink slime is nutritionally more like raw gelatine than to actual muscle meat after which there is the inescapable fact that I can't stand being lied to. Basically buy a packet saying it's 100% Beef it better be the particular meat and never be adulterated by other poor additives (bone meal, cartilage, skin, etc.). If a company would like to lie to me about that then I start to wonder what else they're lying to me about and I lose rely upon them.
As well as I attempt to do exactly what the Surgeon General tells us we ought to do and avoid eating to a lot of highly processed foods. Any way your perception the method used to recover pink slime (until the 90's it wasn't even legal to market for human consumption) is high processing.
ABC news had a set of this and apparently the only large local grocery store chains who've a strict policy of not selling ground beef with pink slime added involved with it are Costco and Whole Foods. I am talking about,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when the consumer can't easily differentiate between different products if you don't provide them with the tools to simply compare variations in quality? Notice how the conservatives are also almost always against requiring proper labeling? Either you're for consumers creating their own minds (which means you need to label so consumers can perform that) or you're for hiding the reality from consumers as they get ripped off. There is no middle ground here.
BTW If only we'd a cost Chopper around here. I understand it's just like a bigger version of Save A Lot with really low prices yet unlike Save A great deal they actually have quality standards (like not allowing anything containing pink slime to be removed within their stores). I really like low prices around the next guy but I likewise want a business which won't lie to me; if it says ground beef then I want it to be 100% ground beef without fillers or additives,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Yes I've realized that. As soon as anyone dares advocate that companies be required to tell consumers the reality regarding what they are buying,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they begin screaming "Nanny state! Nanny state! Nanny state!".
It shows where they are really originating from. They claim it is all about people being able to make choices and make their very own decisions, instead of have the "nanny state" decide everything for them. But they're all in favor of Big Business being able to deceive people and rip people off to make more $$$.
Yup,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whether it's not labeled a consumer can't quickly and easily tell what it is they are buying and when consumers are kept in the dark then your market can't go a long way. There is no middle ground here.
BTW If only we had a Price Chopper around here. I realize it's like a bigger version of Save A great deal with suprisingly low prices yet unlike Save A great deal they really have quality standards (like not allowing anything containing pink slime to be removed in their stores). I love affordable prices as much as the following guy however i likewise want a business which won't mislead me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]; if it says ground beef then I would like it to be 100% ground beef without fillers or additives.
Yes I have realized that. As soon as anyone dares advocate that companies be asked to tell consumers the truth about what they are buying,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they begin screaming "Nanny state! Nanny state! Nanny state!".
It shows where they are really coming from. They're saying it's all about people having the ability to make choices and make their own decisions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rather than possess the "nanny state" decide everything on their behalf. But they are all in favor of Big Business being able to deceive people and rip people off to make more $$$.

But aren't all those things in parentheses beef? It's not like they're sneaking in a couple percent gopher,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], recycled cardboard or spent nuclear fuel. Bone meal, skin,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], cartilage and whatever else stem to stern on a cow continues to be by definition beef.
So you're right about disclosure and I agree, but as to the end should it be taken? I am talking about, are we going to demand that the MSDS be accessible for each food item we purchase?
And again, I can't emphasize enough that beef, or meat generally, isn't only edible item in which the detailed information of what it is processed are concealed by simple omission.
