Liverpool FC will return to the scene of one of their greatest triumphs when they revisit Istanbul to take on Galatasaray SK in UEFA Champions League Group C. The English club won the last of their five European titles by beating AC Milan on penalties in the 2005 cheap minnesota vikings jerseys final after coming from 3-0 down at half-time at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium. One of their goalscorers was Czech midfielder Vladimír Šmicer, who is now with another of Liverpool's opponents, FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Koeman eyes repeatPSV Eindhoven coach Ronald Koeman will also relish tackling Liverpool again after guiding SL Benfica to home and away victories when they knocked the Anfield side out of last season's competition. However, it is Galatasaray and PSV who have the most history between them following four previous European Champion Clubs' Cup encounters, in 1987 and 2001. With the home team winning each time, they had two victories apiece. PSV fans may also recall their favourites beating Bordeaux on away goals in the 1988 quarter-finals en route to lifting the trophy. Rick Parry, Liverpool chief executiveWe have fond memories of trips to Istanbul. PSV and Bordeaux are a little bit of an unknown quantity for pittsburgh steelers jerseys us but it's OK. There is no such thing as a favourable draw, none of the groups are that easy. Turkey is a long way but we've avoided the eastern European trips. We are looking forward to it. Ulrich Ramé, Bordeaux goalkeeperIt could have been a much tougher group. We'll be dark horses behind PSV and Liverpool which gives us a chance to advance. I don't overlook Galatasaray as it's always a difficult trip there. All the teams will present a physical challenge. But no one expects us to progress so we can cause a big surprise. Ronald Koeman, PSV coachI am reasonably satisfied. I don't think we are without a chance of finishing in the top two. Liverpool are the strongest team in the group and the other clubs all have a chance of atlanta falcons jerseys second place. I don't think there is much difference strength-wise between the other three. French football is known for its speed and physical and technical abilities, while Galatasaray will be very difficult, especially away. Eric Gerets, Galatasaray coachLiverpool are a high-level and strong team. There’s not much need to talk about them. Bordeaux might not seem like a very powerful side but the French league is a top-class league. Also, PSV are my former club. I have fond memories. When I played for PSV, cheap chicago bears jerseys we eliminated Bordeaux in the quarter-finals and lifted the European Champion Clubs’ Cup trophy. I am positive about qualifying from this group but first we have to get in form. Each player should do better than last season. Related ItemsBarça and Chelsea together again
